2.5.5.2 Hardware Installation

The first step to using your LabJack T series device is to install the software from LabJack.  To use LabJack T series devices you need their "LJM" driver which is available from the LabJack website.  The LabJack software must be installed on any machine that uses a LabJack T series device unless you are connecting to your device over Ethernet using Modbus (in which case you should read the section on Modbus instead of this one).  The driver should be installed before you plug the device into the USB port.

DAQFactory is a separate installer.  DAQFactory installers do not include the low level LabJack drivers, so you must install the drivers that come from LabJack to use their devices.  This is required even if you are going to connect over Ethernet to an Ethernet compatible LabJack T device without using Modbus, for example if you need to stream the LabJack.  Streaming is not supported under Modbus.

Note:  If you upgrade DAQFactory (by going to www.azeotech.com) you will most likely also need to ensure that you are using the latest LabJack drivers.  You should therefore go to www.labjack.com and download and install those drivers as well.
